the little yellow canoe

I always prefered the simplicity of life. Low key, not much in the way of what I would call drama. It's sad actually - I'm not political, I do my extremely small share to make the world a better place.

Sometimes though, I'm like that little canoe.. content to rest in the marshes. In sight of the Big Boats - watching them all in their club, there is no place for me. Other times, I can readily admit I am a little jealous. I wonder what it would be like to show my pass to the gate keeper and he just nods his head because he knows who I am. It's just a formality of doing his job. I'd walk through the club of the marina and talk about how we can make our town a better place.

When I start daydreaming like that, I start to feel clastrophic and know that if I tie myself to larger and bigger things the more responsibilities to other people and myself I would have. ::shiver::

No, let go of the jealousy, the envy because it is something that I choose freely not to have, not to put all my energy into obtaining "wealth and stature" - but to enjoy the lapping of the waves as I paddle my canoe, hear the call of the seagulls when I silently float down along the cove.... truly enjoy the simple life.
